Key Takeaways

When working with cross-disciplinary teams, overcommunicate.

As a design team we worked closely with engineering and marketing teams. At times things got lost in translation because of lack of clarity and effective communication. When working with the engineering team on the website, the designs we passed along didn't always get implemented how we designed them. Moving forward I would want to make sure to be explicit about work that gets passed along, and to leverage my understanding of code to be a better communicator.

Plan ahead but be flexible.

We had so many tasks to complete in a limited time, alongside our full time roles as students! Planning ahead and being transparent about what we had on our plate and delegating helped us as a design team to be more efficient. From previous year experiences, learned it was important to delegate, who was in charge of communications with this team, who wanted to take the lead for this task.

Be opinionated.

Defining the brand was tough because there were so many differing points of view and opinions. At the end of the day it's important to establish my opinion and advocate for it.
